Flipkart on-Boards Over 50,000 Kirana Stores for Their Upcoming Big Billion Days Sale
10 Sep 2020
E-commerce platform Flipkart said on Wednesday that it has on-boarded over 50,000 Kirana shops to ensure fast delivery and a stronger supply chain during the festive season. Last year, around 25000 Kirana stores had partnered with the company during the Big Billion Day sales, and the count has doubled this year.
The Walmart-owned Flipkart attempts to deliver across 850 cities. It aims to expand its reach to remote cities and has added Tinsukia, Agartala, and Kannur to its network. The move will help the site to provide lucrative offers in a time when online platforms are buzzing.
Flipkart has earlier launched a digital platform to strengthen its B2B wholesale marketplace and to connect with the local manufacturers. The company said that it aims to bring prosperity to Indian Kiranas and MSMEs through technological advancement and greater connectivity. They are also providing assistance and training to empower Kirana shop owners by introducing technology to ensure seamless business functions.
Buying online has become a preferred option amongst the public, given the very low-risk involved during the infectious COVID-19. Building a reliable E-commerce ecosystem with the participation of MSMEs, local and small wholesalers will support them as well as will make a larger variety of goods accessible to the public.
