Flipkart to Launch an Accelerator Program ‘Flipkart Leap’ For Idea Stage Startups

Walmart owned E-commerce major Flipkart has launched ‘Flipkart Leap’, an accelerator program for idea-stage startups to help them build market ready solutions. Flipkart Leap is an attempt to look out for startups that can help the company to strengthen its infrastructure and nurture early-age startups with their expertise and experience.

The company would shortlist startups in consumer internet and B2B space. These startups would undergo an intensive 16-week virtual program and would be provided with a $25,000 (Rs 18.75 lakh approx.) grant.The program has identified five themes — innovation in digital commerce, design & make for India, supply chain management & logistics, technologies to empower the offline retail and enabling relevant deep-tech software or apps.

Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer, Flipkart Group has said that, “Flipkart Leap is aimed at unlocking this potential and nurturing new ideas that bring innovation, curiosity and unconventionality to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, while boosting the government’s ‘Start-Up India’ initiative”. He also said that helping these startups would bring value to the industry and the Indian consumers as well.

Throughout the program, Flipkart’s leadership team from business, product, technology &operations along with the sessions held by industry experts would be mentoring the selected entrepreneurs. After completion of the virtual program, the final participants of Flipkart Leap will pitch their ideas to investors and other ecosystem players and, may also be considered by Flipkart.

The company said that startups that are eligible to apply should be based in India and should have a working prototype with early adoption metrics
