Coursera provides massive online open courses (MOOC) that train students and employees to succeed in a competitive space. The online platform with 70 million learners caters to learners looking to upskill by offering them various skill-driven courses that are designed by top learned experts. The platform is popular in providing in-depth training and applicable knowledge with flexible learning hours.

The platform has experienced a surge in demand with over 21 million learners joining Coursera since the outbreak of the pandemic. The education sector has undergone a remarkable transformation. Now students across the globe are seeking quality online education through top institutions and industry educators.

India is witnessing a huge percentage of unemployment among college graduates. The report accents the need to revise the curriculum followed in India’s schools and colleges, which has failed to prepare the students to meet the demands of the current workplace. The report highlights the popularity of online learning among Indian students. It shows that students are willing to upskill for staying relevant in a rapidly changing market which is driven by technology and automation.

The urgency to create reliable online learning tools and solutions amid the pandemic is well addressed by ed-tech platforms. Rising unemployment due to obsolete courses offered by traditional institutions calls for alternative learning tools. The test preparation and online certification startups will persist to experience massive demand among students, employees, and displaced workers.
