Reliance Jio-Qualcomm Successfully Test 5G, Achieve Landmark 1 Gbps Speed

Reliance Jio and Qualcomm Technologies on Tuesday announced that
they have successfully tested 5G technology. India is now among one of
the few countries to achieve over a 1 Gbps speed milestone. The long-
standing collaboration is already looking to develop and roll out
indigenous 5G network infrastructure in India.
Reportedly, Jio will also launch entry-level 5G enabled smartphones
priced under Rs 5000 by December. The telecom industry had first
announced the launch of homegrown 5G technology during Reliance’s
43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) in July this year.
Reliance Jio and Qualcomm Technologies will accelerate the
development and testing of drive open technologies in 5G RAN. The
company aims to offer scalable and flexible cellular network technology
to bridge the digital gap in India.
The adoption of 5G technology would allow early as well as growth-
stage startups in the country to expand through digitization. The
landmark success of the Jio-Qualcomm arrangement has provided huge
momentum for the ‘Made in India’ initiative.
