26 September 2020
Ed-tech Unicorn Unacademy acquired Coursavy, a leading platform for India’s civil services test preparation on 24th September for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition comes following a large funding round worth $150 million led by Japan’s SoftBank.
The acquisition will help Unacademy strengthen its position as a market leader in UPSC test preparations, one of its core expertise from the beginning. Coursavy helps aspirants stay focused and disciplined by setting daily targets, offering mentorship, and promoting community learning. Coursavy caters to over 70,000 learners through youtube videos and its platform.
Coursavy CEO Vimal Singh Rathore said that they are enthusiastic to be a part of Unacademy and the acquisition will enable them to deliver high quality and affordable education to millions of learners. Top educators from Coursavy will now teach on the Unacademy platform that includes Coursavy’s CEO and founder Vimal Singh Rathore as well.
Unacademy had acquired five startups this year, including Codechef, Kreatryx (educational platform for competitive examination preparation), and PrepLadder (an online learning platform for medical aspirants). The exponential growth in the Unacademy subscriber base indicates the need for quality educational content for various competitive exam preparations. 2020 has been an exceptional year for Unacademy and it continues to grow with the surge in demand for online learning.
